The Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation has developed a

Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS)

The Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS) will help guide Jefferson County's economic development agenda. This comprehensive strategy describes the local and regional economy, its constraints and assets, and identifies potential business clusters and opportunities for economic growth.  The Jefferson County Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) is built upon a vision for the future.  This vision has long-range goals and strategies that lead to the achievement of these goals

The project has two main components: research and implementation. The research component examines the economic infrastructure and assets for economic development within the area. This includes efforts to identify potential cluster activity upon which the area can leverage development activities.

The implementation phase will involve public, municipal, private and quasi-public organizations, such as the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation and the Southeast Nebraska Development District in facilitating economic development opportunities in the region.

This project is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development-Nebraska and the membership of the Southeast Nebraska Development District (SENDD). The target area includes Jefferson County and seven counties in southeast Nebraska that have recently joined SENDD.

Local Stakeholders that helped to develop the strategy included:

Dick Allen   Fred Arnold   Robert Brackle   Julie Earhart   James Frager   Dick Hoppe

Ralph Knobel   Lana Likens   Fred Maatsch   Gene Mueller   Barb Schmidt   Dan Stanton

Stan Stewart   Marvin Yost   Ron Starr   Mary Stepp

VISION STATEMENT

JEFFERSON COUNTY'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES SHOULD RESULT

IN INCREASED EMPLOYMENT AND INCOME OPPORTUNITIES, HIGHER WAGES AND IMPROVED STANDARD

OF LIVING FOR RESIDENTS.  THIS SHOULD BE ACCOMPLISHED IN A COORDINATED MANNER THAT PRESERVES AND PROTECTS THE ENVIRONMENT, NATURAL RESOURCES, CULTURAL AMENITIES AND

OVERALL QUALITY OF LIFE IN THE AREA AND LARGER REGION.

JCEDC HOSTS BOOTH AT JEFFERSON COUNTY FAIR

The Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation hosted a booth at the Jefferson County Fair in July 2006.

The theme of that year's fair was "Something to Crow About"

Dennis Brown of Fairbury Steaks provided "Tail Gators" for sampling at the booth.

JCEDC held a drawing for fair goers to submit their favorite thing to crow about in Jefferson County.

We at JCEDC along with all of the people that submitted are very proud of where we live
